Jacki Hopwood is the lead instructor for The Greater Lagrange YMCAs Preschool Aged Enrichment Program. Jacki has spent her nearly 20 year career at the Y working with children. Jacki started as a volunteer at the Y and not long after began working in the Gym and Swim Program. In her current role she will be facilitating the newly designed Preschool Aged Program. The new program focuses on school readiness and includes early reading as well as STEM curriculum.
Jacki has worked with the Kindergarten Program for several years. She says, “One of the best parts of working with the kids is their humor. The kids are always eager to tell you their ideas, stories and to learn something new.” Jacki also incorporates the YMCA Core Values into her classroom which include Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. She always encourages children to treat others as they would like to be treated.
When Jacki isn’t working she is still a part of our Y Family. She recently lost over 40 pounds and enjoys the attending the Spin classes at the Y. Way to go Jacki!
Outside of the Y she spends time with her family, enjoys going to the city and tries to catch as many Auburn/ Georgia football games as possible.
Jacki’s caring nature and compassion for working with young children has touched so many families. Many families still come back to visit Ms. Jacki. We are lucky to have her in our Y Family!
