You belong. With a growing and active membership of more than 120,000 and with programs developed to assist an additional half-million area residents, the YMCA of Metro Chicago is committed to serving the spirit, mind and body of every member.
The AWAY (Always Welcome at Ys) Program allows you access to more than 2,300 Ys across the united States and in 130 countries and territories around the world. Visiting members are always welcome by showing their Y AWAY membership card. Some local restrictions apply. Please call ahead prior to your first visit. Check out www.ymca.net for the nearest Y you are planning to visit.
The YMCA of Metro Chicago allows its members to use other YMCAs within the Association at no additional charge. Members are encouraged to join the Y that they most often use.
Member Identification is very important to us here at the Foglia YMCA! Everyone likes to be called by their name; it allows for a connection to be made and a relationship to be built. We want to know who you are! Members and Non-members must show proper identification (current membership card) when entering the facility. This is also for your protection as it is a Members-only facility. Please remember that guests must present their ID and a signed waiver.
Member Guest Privileges
The YMCA of Metro Chicago provides each member with six guest passes every year. In addition, the YMCA allows members the opportunity to purchase up to three guest passes per visit for family and friends at the Center in which the person is a member. Members must accompany guest(s) when a pass is purchased. All guests must present a valid ID and sign a facility waiver. Each guest is limited to three visits per year.
Guest Pass Policy
As a visitor of any YMCA of Metro Chicago, you may use a free guest pass up to three times within a calendar year. After which time, you may only use the Center by purchasing a daily fee pass* or purchasing a membership while accompanied by a member. All guests must present a valid ID and sign a facility waiver.
Guests under age 18 must be with a Foglia YMCA member 16 years or older. Guests 16 or younger MUST have a waiver signed by a parent/guardian upon entering the facility.
*Daily fee passes are not available at all Centers
Members eight years and younger must be accompanied by an adult or guardian when visiting the YMCA unless the member is participating in a class or program.
Youth must be 12 years of age and either enrolled in or completed the “Commit to be fit” teen track to gain access to the cardiovascular equipment, and 16 years or older to use free weights unless they have completed the "Commit to be Fit" teen track with the free weight level. The only other exception is for youth in those Centers with youth-specific equipment for ages 8–12.
To be in the aquatics area alone, youth must be 9 years or older. Youth 7 and 8 years of age must have a parent or guardian age 16 years or older on the pool deck while swimming. Youth under the age of 7 years must have a parent or guardian in the pool within an arms length reach away from them at all times.
Cell Phone Policy
Due to the advances in cell phone video/picture technology, and for the privacy of our members and guests:
• Cell phones should not be used or carried in the locker rooms, the child care hallway/rooms including Strong Kids and Preschool or the aquatic center.
If you must utilize a cell phone, please be courteous and keep your phone on “vibrate” or a very quiet ring tone, and keep your conversations short and as quiet as possible. We thank you for being considerate to your fellow Foglia YMCA members.
Anyone with a membership, in good standing, may put their membership on hold one time during a calendar year. The hold can be for a minimum of 1 month and a maximum of 3 months.
The member must come into the Foglia YMCA 15 days prior to their draft date (closest to your requested hold date) to sign a Membership On Hold Agreement. This agreement states when the membership will go on hold and when the monthly drafts will stop/start. The member will also be required to pay a $25 administrative fee as well as relinquish all cards associated with the membership. A draft reinstatement reminder letter including a reminder when to pick up the membership card(s) will be mailed out a month before the draft is set to begin again.
When transferring an annual membership from another YMCA, we will contact your previous YMCA for a prorated balance of your membership. Our membership department will gladly honor your credit and apply this amount to your first year’s dues, subject to the policies of your previous YMCA. You will not be responsible for the joiner’s fee if your transfer occurs within 30 days of membership expiration.
Your YMCA membership must be canceled in person or by registered mail 15 days prior to your monthly draft date (the 1st or the 15th of the month). When mailing, please include:
• Your membership card(s)
• A letter stating why you are canceling your membership
• Your current contact information Mail the cancellation to: Foglia YMCA Attention: Membership Department 1025 Old McHenry Road Lake Zurich, Illinois 60047
Cancellations are not accepted by phone. If you are unsure of your draft date, call the YMCA and a staff member can assist you. If you are on a checking account or credit card draft, the membership will continue to draft until you personally cancel it.
Healthy Lifestyles Center Policies
The Foglia YMCA is committed to providing a clean, safe and healthy experience for all members and guests. In doing so:
• Practice the YMCA’s four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
• Food and beverage, other than clear liquids, are not allowed in the Healthy Lifestyle Center.
• Personal items (bags, coats, keys, wallet and other clothing) in the cubbies or lockers locked in the lower level locker rooms or in the mini lockers in the Healthy Lifestyles Center. Locks are available at both greeter stations. The Foglia YMCA is not liable for lost or stolen items.
• Wear proper shoes and appropriate clothing. Open toe shoes and sandals not allowed.
• Please limit your cardiovascular workouts to 30 minutes during peak times when all of the machines are in use and individuals are waiting.
• Allow others to “work-in” on equipment between sets.
• Be courteous to others and wipe down all equipment after use.
These actions will benefit the members, guests and staff of the Foglia YMCA. We are committed to providing a space that is completely dedicated to the balance of spirit, mind and body.
