October Super Staff: Missy Gudgeon!

September 25, 2017

Join us in congratulating our October Super Staff, Missy, on all of her hard work and dedication to the Y!"

Meet Missy Gudgeon, our wonderful Drop-In Child Care Shift Lead! Missy was born and raised in Lake Zurich, and takes pride in working for the Y. She’s got a big heart, and is always willing to help others. She went to school and became a licensed EMT prior to motherhood.

She was inspired to work for the YMCA after having her son, Brice, and because Brice’s Grandma, Marysue works here at Foglia – it runs in the family! “The Y has always been a place where my new little family can have fun; from Family Nights, to the Halloween events, to the Touch-a-Truck events held here, we have always found something for all of us to enjoy together.” Missy is passionate about the YMCA’s mission and she loves the fact that her son is able to be more involved in the community that she grew up in.

Missy is recognized for her leadership in the Y Kids Zone and taking an active role in working with the staff, whether it be covering shifts, training registrations, or creating projects for the kids to do in the YKZ.  She is interactive, and her obvious passion is evident in everything she does.

Outside of the Y, Missy is crazy about her son, who recently turned 3 years old. He was recently enrolled in Preschool, and “He’s learning so quickly, and it amazes me and scares me,” she beams. Her job as mom always comes first. “I just enjoy watching him learn and grow, even though it happens so fast I could cry.”

She absolutely loves rescuing animals, and she is a huge environmental advocate, especially when it comes to recycling. She also enjoys spending time with her family, outings, and vacations. Anything that involves family and friends – she is all in!

She loves that at the Y she is able to work with friends, and their children, to watch how they interact and become friends. The Y has helped her son, Brice, become more sociable and learn how to make friends!

Thank you Missy, for all you do!
