Elmhurst YMCA & Chicago Blackhawks host "Girls Hockey Day" at Elmhurst YMCA Ice Rink

On Tuesday, December 23, the Elmhurst YMCA and Chicago Blackhawks hosted a 'Girls Hockey Day' event for 5-12 year olds interested in learning to play the sport. Twenty-nine girls participated in an hour long on-ice hockey clinic at the ElmhurstYMCA outdoor ice rink led by Team USA 2014 Winter Olympics Silver Medalist Kendall Coyne and Annie Camins, Chicago Blackhawks Youth Hockey Director. The girls completed skating and passing drills alongside the Olympian and ended with a scrimmage. Afterwards, Coyne took pictures and signed autographs for each participant.
One participant was overheard saying meeting Coyne was "Way better than Santa!" as she expressed her excitement in greeting the silver medalist.
 
Additionally, the Glen Ellyn Admirals u12 and u14 all-girls hockey teams scrimmaged during the event to showcase the sport for those in attendance.
