Y Takes Part in City Announcement Focused on After-School Programming
President and CEO of the Y of Metro Chicago, Dick Malone, joined Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel this morning in an event announcing that the City is developing a unified registration and information portal for programming beyond the school day. Once it goes live, the portal will link young people to productive activities throughout Chicago, and help community partners like the Y track demand for important programming.
The Y is one of six major community organizations committed to be part of the planning process and work on this project. The Y of Metro Chicago is one of the largest community providers of youth programming in the City — nurturing potential in membership centers and in the public schools.
“We hope this website will help connect us to the youth in our city who haven’t had access, while providing motivation for individuals, corporations and foundations to support these important youth programs that build character, strengthen neighborhoods and transform lives,” said Malone.
