The South Side YMCA in Woodlawn was the site of a 90-minute forum exploring the role athletes can play in addressing violence in the United States. The forum was created by the ESPN's website The Undefeated, which focuses on sports and the African American experience, and hosted by sports journalist Jemele Hill. Athletes, community members and journalists comprised four panels and discussed violence, activism, law enforcement, and potential solutions. Among the participating athletes were Chicago natives Cappie Pondexter, Jabari Parker and Isiah Thomas.

The discussion, called "An Undefeated Conversation: Athletes, Responsibility and Violence," was recorded before a live audience on August 25 and aired on ESPN later that same day.
