On Friday, May 12, 2017, starting at 9:30 a.m., YMCA staff, community leaders, parents and children, SGA/Young Chicago Parents, CAPS 11th District, along with community partners will parade around the block as advocates of peace. The Marshall High School ROTC Band will be leading the parade.
The starting point will be at 10 S. Kedzie Avenue, Chicago IL, 60612, at the front entrance of the building.
This event is open to the community and everyone is encouraged to participate and wear green. The peace walk is sponsored by SGA Youth & Family Services, CAPS 11th District, and Dr. Effie O. Ellis YMCA. There will be a short rally with speakers from CeaseFire and poems by SGA parent Shaquita Bell and YMCA staff Katrina Young after the parade.

Staff from the Y’s Youth Safety and Violence Prevention initiative, Westside Healthy Beginnings, YMCA Marshall Family Development Center and Garfield YMCA will be joined by the Resource Center for Autism and Developmental Delays, UIC/FAST/GED, Catholic Charities, Franciscan Outreach, Ceasefire Chicago, St. Anthony Hospital, YWCA, Hope Learning Institute Academy, Legler Regional Library, BGS, Holy Family School and Marshall High School.
