Fry Family YMCA to Expand to Better Meet the Needs of Naperville Families

Fry Family YMCA to Expand to Better Meet the Needs of Naperville Families

As the Naperville community changes and evolves, so must its YMCA. Over the next few months, to better meet the growing needs of families, the Fry Family YMCA, located at 2120 W. 95th Street in south Naperville, will undergo renovations with positive implications for both programming and space needs.

On Friday, September 28, an official groundbreaking was held at the Fry Family YMCA from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The Naperville mayor was in attendance, and there were building tours, face painting and opportunities for parents/children to have their photos taken with a hard hat and shovel.

“Through this expansion, we look forward to offering families more privacy through the addition of a family locker room, and will be able to better meet the needs of the youngest members of the YMCA through our two new preschool classrooms,” Judy Ellertson, Fry Family YMCA Executive Director, said.

The new construction will include:

• Two Preschool Classrooms

• Viewing Area in Front of Pool

• Family Locker Room

• Expansion of Parking Lot

The preschool classrooms will be used for licensed partial and full-day preschool programs. A kindergarten afterschool program is planned for the 2013-14 school year. Current preschool programs also will expand along with evening and weekend classes.

The expansion is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2013. The Fry Family YMA will remain open during construction. Check back in with ymcachicago.org to follow the expansion progress, as well as fryfamilymca.org, and on Facebook at facebook.com/FryFamilyYMCA.
