Four Ways to Give Back and Get Outside on Earth Day
April 21, 2017
Check out this list of Earth Day activities throughout the Chicagoland area. "
Earth Day was created nearly 50 years ago to increase public awareness of environmental problems. This weekend, Let’s Move! Outside encourages you to celebrate Earth Day by restoring a community near you or learning more about how you can impact your environment!
Go on a Wildflower Hike at the Little Red Schoolhouse Nature Center. It's free and open to families!
Visit the Restoring Earth exibits at the Field Musuem, which illustrates how "scientists are providing the tools to conserve wilderness and protect the Earth’s biodiversity, all while improving local livelihoods and fostering human connections with nature."
If you’re interested in continuing the outdoor fun beyond Earth Day, mark your calendars for May 20, 2017 to attend the Bird Day Celebration at LaBagh Woods Forest Preserve! And of course, don't forget the Y's summer day camps and resident camps as well...registration is now open!
