Celebrating Puerto Rican Culture

Celebrating Puerto Rican Culture

The Y brings families together every day, but it’s not every day that bringing families together involves a parade through the streets of downtown Chicago! On June 16, families from the Rauner Family YMCA, Leaning Tower YMCA, High Ridge YMCA and McCormick Tribune YMCA teamed up to represent the Y in the Chicago Puerto Rican Parade, an annual event to celebrate Puerto Rican culture.

Two Y buses drove in the parade with Puerto Rican flags hanging from the windows and salsa music blasting. Dozens of staff and family volunteers passed out YMCA balls, pens, flyers and magnets to parade-goers. Everyone who participated had a great time!

The YMCA would like to thank the Puerto Rican community for their support and we look forward to seeing you and your families at the Y this summer!

QUE VIVA PUERTO RICO!
